Quantum Alberta Membership Guidelines

Guidelines for membership in Quantum Alberta are outlined below, in four main categories. While we
recognize that any categorization is imperfect. Any questions, as well as completed applications, may
be sent to Lindsay LeBlanc (lindsay.leblanc@ualberta.ca).

Academic Membership

Academic members of Quantum Alberta are:
● Listed on the Quantum Alberta website
● Invited to annual workshops, and other events. If funding is available for travel (depending on
successful grant applications), members are eligible to receive travel funds
● Will receive all email and other communications from the Quantum Alberta executive
● Will be connected to industry members and partners to foster collaborations

Academic members’ responsibilities:
● Provide an annual report to the Quantum Alberta Executive outlining yearly progress, including
publications, HQP training, awards, patents, and other highlights, especially regarding
successful collaborations

To apply, individuals should provide the following information to the Quantum Alberta executive (via
chwelos@ualberta.ca or lindsay.leblanc@ualberta.ca):
● A short (approx. half page) summary outlining interests and activities in quantum research and
technology. Recent publications related to these areas should be highlighted.
● A current CV
● Optional: link to personal/group website

Industry Membership

Industry membership is intended for Alberta-based companies with commercial activity and/or research
and development activities in or supportive of quantum science, engineering, and technology.

Industry members of Quantum Alberta are:
● Listed on the Quantum Alberta website
● Invited to annual workshops, and other events.
● Will receive all email and other communications from the Quantum Alberta executive
● Will be connected to university-based researchers to foster collaborations

Industry members’ responsibilities:

● Provide an annual report to the Quantum Alberta Executive outlining yearly progress, including
publicly available information regarding commercial activity and/or research and development
activities, and any highlights they wish to share, especially regarding successful collaborations

To apply, company representatives should provide the following information to the Quantum Alberta
executive (via chwelos@ualberta.ca or lindsay.leblanc@ualberta.ca):
● A short (approx. half page) summary outlining interests and activities in quantum research and
technology.
● A list of personnel who are interested in engaging with Quantum Alberta (and their contact
information)
● Link to the company website

Industry Partnership

Industry partnership is intended for companies (both Alberta-based and those outside the province)
with interests in connecting to the Alberta quantum ecosystem.

Industry partners of Quantum Alberta are:
● Listed on the Quantum Alberta website
● Invited to annual workshops, and other events.
● Will receive all email and other communications from the Quantum Alberta executive
● Will be connected to university-based researchers to foster collaborations

Industry partners are not required to provide reporting, but may do so if they wish.

To apply, company representatives should provide the following information to the Quantum Alberta
executive (via chwelos@ualberta.ca or lindsay.leblanc@ualberta.ca):
● A short (approx. half page) summary outlining interests and activities in quantum research and
technology.
● A list of personnel who are interested in engaging with Quantum Alberta (and their contact

Quantum Alberta Partnership

Quantum Alberta partnership is intended for other entities: individuals, researchers, government
agencies, non-profit organizations who are interested in connecting to the Alberta quantum ecosystem,
but may not be actively or directly engaged in quantum research and development activities.

Quantum Alberta partners are not required to provide reporting, but may do so if they wish.

Quantum Alberta partners of Quantum Alberta are:

● May be listed on the Quantum Alberta website, if desired
● May be invited to annual workshops, and other events, depending on individual situations
● Will receive targeted email and other communications from the Quantum Alberta executive

To apply, applicants should provide the following information to the Quantum Alberta executive (via
